What to Expect

Your comfort level is always a priority, with pressure given within your tolerance level. Many people recognize the value and enjoy the treatments that have the deeper pressure as the main part of the therapy. During your sessions, a combination of Advanced Manual Therapies will be used, along with Moist Heat Packs, Herbal Liniments and the Infratonic 9: random, low frequency alpha sound waves. This prepares the musculo-skeletal and soft-tissue system for Integrative Neuromuscular. Integrative Cranial Therapy may be given after the system has been prepared with the above procedures.

Advanced Manual-Medicine treatments are very effective and yield results. You can expect improvements immediately. The factors that determine how rapid the recovery occurs are 1) severity of condition, 2) life style habits: diet, exercise, stress management and 3) follow through with additional treatments. Health and healing are earned in the body.

With this therapy plan, you will discover health, energy and well being that you never believed to be possible.

Feedback: A contact dialogue

Continuous feedback and dialogue with the client is encouraged to insure the therapy is conducted within the tolerance level of the body to carry out the process successfully and achieve maximum results. There is a certain amount of temporary discomfort in any deep tissue therapy. This is minimized with the use of Moist Heat Therapy, and Chinese Herbal Liniments.

After the first treatment there is a possibility of some post-therapy soreness. As the muscles becomes healthier with time, a series of treatments, and consistent life-style modifications there is less and less discomfort with the treatment. Moderate to heavy pressure will not elicit a pain response in healthy tissue.

The presence of pain during physical manipulation of tissues is a valuable guide-line for the therapist, indicating where the tissue is in dysfunction with adhesions, muscle spasms, trigger points and cellular toxins are located.

For most people, deep tissue therapy feels good to them, even if there is a temporary sensation of discomfort. The body knows that this is a very necessary part of healing and recovery of excellent health

The Day Following Your Treatment

After the therapy you may feel temporary soreness as the body normalizes and finds it's homeostasis. As the body becomes healthier, there is no discomfort after therapy.

  • Soreness of tissue, like a after an exercise or work-out.
  • Stiffness
  • Emotional mood-swings/emotional releases.
  • Fatigue

.

Please drink plenty of fresh water.
Water helps to minimize after effects of the treatment by flushing toxins from the body system more rapidly

Charting Common Referral Zones

In the course of your treatment, a thorough examination is made of the trigger points in the general area of complaint as well as a secondary trigger points in the common referral zones determining which trigger points are a contributing factor in chronic pain, stress and injuries patterns.

When direct pressure is applied to these trigger points there will be referred symptoms or pain to predictable areas. Communication between therapist and client is an essential part of the therapy session. For example: the tissues of the upper trapezius can refer pain to the base of the skull or to the eyes, contributing to severe head pain.

The following is noted during the therapy session:

***Sensitivity to pain and condition of body at the beginning of the session

***State of muscle tone: contractions or fibrotic adhesions

***Temperature of tissue

***Postural distortion

***Improvement at the end of the session

Treatment Aids

Moist Heat Therapy

To increase both the comfort and effectiveness of the treatments, preparatory application of hydrocolator heat packs are used; both in therapy and in the teaching of Advanced Manual-Medicine. Injured, fibrotically adhered muscles require an application of heat to allow for deeper penetration of tissues.

The application of moist heat, in addition to Herbal Liniments reduces the soreness and temporary discomfort that may occur in the beginning stages of reversing chronic pain patterns and finally creating a permanent change in the biochemistry of the body. The healing process is accelerated, pain cycles are interrupted and a total relaxation of the nervous system is experienced.

Moist Heat Therapy is used through out the therapy session with Advanced Manual Medicine. This system of work is very effective and has helped many people over the past 46 years that Peggy has been working professionally.

Herbal Liniments

A blend of warming, therapeutic oils that are made from Chinese herbs: formulas are ancient and have a healing effect on the tissues. With the application of heat--the warming oils add to the penetrating effects and actually accelerate healing of tissue on a cellullar level. The oils have an aromatherapy-like effect, depending on the formulas that are used:

**calming the nervous system; the comfort level of the person is increased during the treatment

**opening up congested sinus cavities; the aromatic effects are very strong and help normalize colds, coughs and general congestive conditions

**normalizing fibrotically adhered muscles tissue, reducing spasms of the soft-tissue system

**a very important part in the therapy plan of reducing and elimination of chronic pain; pain levels are very often reduced and/or eliminated

Infratonic Therapy

Infratonic 9: an amazing machine from China that is used during Advanced Manual Medicine treatments, emitting low frequency alpha sound waves. This is an aid in the dissolving of chronic pain and trauma in the nervous system and pathology in the entire body. The Infratonic 9 is a silent worker that does it's job very well during the therapy session. Clients are then advised and assisted to obtain their own machine for home/self care.
